- Underlying tooth colour: The translucency can let the tooth's own colour show through. For teeth that have darkened after root canal treatment, or teeth that are naturally very dark, either zirconia is chosen or treatment starts with internal or external whitening.
- Bridges: Its use as a bridge where teeth are missing is limited; in these cases zirconia bridges are usually considered.

E-max restorations require the teeth to be prepared with a defined shoulder, so taking the impression digitally with a CAD-CAM system is a significant advantage: production time is much shorter and the restorations fit very accurately.
The try-in and finishing stages, which used to take 7–10 days, can now be completed on the same day with CAD-CAM technology.
Is E-max suitable for everyone?
The decision is not based on the patient's wish alone; the dentist must assess the condition of the mouth. If the teeth are suitable, E-max can be placed. Otherwise, restorations made purely for appearance may lose function over time.
If your own teeth are healthy and problem-free, your dentist may not recommend E-max. Where there is tooth loss, decay or old restorations that need replacing, E-max can be planned from among the suitable options, taking your preferences into account.
